How Geondex measures AI citations, what every metric means, and how to wire your workflow around it. New to the idea? Start with the GEO field guide.

Quickstart

  1. Create a free account with Google.
  2. Add a project — your domain.
  3. Add 1–3 keywords you want to track.
  4. Wait ~30 seconds for the first scan, then watch the dashboard fill in.

No card required. The free tier is a real tier, not a trial — see plans & limits.

How a scan works

A scan turns one keyword into a row of measurable signals. Every tracked keyword runs through every engine your plan includes, and each engine's answer is captured with the sources it cited.

Scans run automatically on your plan's cadence, or on demand with Run-now.

Citations & attribution

An engine returns a list of citations — the URLs it pulled while answering. Geondex normalizes each URL (strips utm_*, lowercases the host, drops the trailing slash) so duplicates collapse into one, then attributes it:

Owner citation

yourdomain.com/pricing

Host matches your project domain → counts toward your coverage and rank.

Competitor citation

competitor.com/compare

Any other host → feeds the competitor leaderboard with the exact URL the engine quoted.

Owner citations drive your coverage and rank; competitor citations build the leaderboard. That split is the backbone of every metric below.

Metrics glossary

Six numbers carry the dashboard. Here's what each one means and why it matters.

  • Coverage

How many of your tracked keywords cite you at all, across engines.

Why it matters · The one honest number for a stakeholder update — 1 / 3 means you show up on a third of your topics.

  • Citation rate

Share of runs (engine × keyword × day) that include your domain.

Why it matters · Lower-volatility than rank. Drifts up as your content improves.

  • Avg. rank

Your position in the answer when cited — 1 is the top.

Why it matters · Engines quote in order. Rank #1 gets read; rank #8 gets skimmed.

  • Share of voice

Your citations as a fraction of the whole competitor pool.

Why it matters · Tells you whether you're cited a lot or just once.

  • Top competitor

The single domain cited most across your tracked keywords.

Why it matters · Your highest-ROI study target — open their cited URLs and learn the format.

  • Gained / lost

Citations added or dropped between two consecutive runs.

Why it matters · Causality: a change you shipped Tuesday showing up Saturday is a signal it worked.

Engines & cadence

Geondex indexes ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini today, each queried and scored independently because the same question returns different citations on each. The full breakdown — how every engine is queried, its citation bias, and which plan unlocks it — lives on the engines page.

  • Free — Perplexity, weekly.
  • Starter — Perplexity + ChatGPT.
  • Pro — all four engines, daily cadence.

Dashboard tour

Each project opens to a single page. Here's what every card tells you.

  • Scoreboard

Coverage, citation rate, and average rank at a glance — the headline state of your domain.

  • Share-of-voice headline

Your slice of the citation pie versus the competitors tracked on the same keywords.

  • Competitor leaderboard

Who AI cites instead of you, ranked, with drill-down to the exact URLs they won.

  • Timeline

Rank and citation rate over time, one line per engine, with gained/lost markers.

  • Recommendations

Prioritized, plain-English moves drawn from the gaps in your current coverage.

  • Schema audit

Per-URL structured-data score with the specific JSON-LD that's missing or stale.

Schema audit

Beyond tracking, Geondex crawls your domain and grades its structured data. It checks JSON-LD, scores each URL 0–100, and flags the common gaps — a missing Organization, a stale BlogPosting, or no FAQPage where one would earn quotes. Structured data is one of the few citation levers you fully control; the audit tells you where to spend the effort.

Alerts & digests

The point of measurement is catching the moment something changes. Geondex emails you when a citation is gained or lost, and a weekly digest rolls up movement across all your keywords. Per-project alert preferences live in each project's notification settings.

Run-now

Don't want to wait for the next scheduled scan? Run-now triggers an immediate scan for a keyword — handy right after you ship a content change. Each plan has a daily Run-now cap to keep costs sane (Starter 5/day, Pro 20/day).

Plans & limits

  • Free — 3 keywords, 1 project, Perplexity, weekly cadence, email alerts.
  • Starter ($19/mo) — 10 keywords, Perplexity + ChatGPT, 5 Run-now/day.
  • Pro ($59/mo) — 50 keywords, 3 projects, all four engines, daily cadence, 20 Run-now/day.

Data & privacy

Geondex only stores the keywords you choose to track and the public citations engines return for them — no scraping of your private analytics. You can delete a project (and its scan history) or your whole account at any time from the dashboard. Details in the privacy policy and DPA.

API

A public REST API is on the roadmap. See /docs/api for planned endpoints and how to request early access.
